Kismet is a four-piece folk band whose members hail from Oxford and Charlbury. They play a repertoire of their own passionate tunes and songs with rich harmonies, many of which take inspiration from the cycles of nature and the seasons of the human heart. Their programme tonight explores the theme of the approaching darkness of Winter. Our culture rarely honours the part of the cycle that involves loss and decay, and the stillness of the dormant season. However, with darkness comes rest and renewal, the chance to shed what is no longer useful, and the maturing of the seed before germination is possible. This evening is an invitation to sink into a deeper rhythm beyond our usual human busyness.
